I want to be the best I can and live with God again (verse from When I AmBaptized)
Elder Holt, Maria Valentino (Daisy's mother), Daisy Valentino, Elder Rameka.
We attended these baptisms in the Richmond Ward on Saturday evening. Maria and Daisy began learning about the gospel approximately six weeks ago. They loved learning more during each discussion. They decided to be baptized together. On Friday evening we met with the Elders, Sister Tilleman and Maria and Daisy to show them the dressing area and how they would enter the baptism font. We also helped them select the proper clothing size for the baptism . They both felt comfortable in jumpsuits. They are so happy to be members. Elder Rameka returns to Australia on Monday July 30th. His home was in New Zealand prior to his mission. This is his final baptism. We will miss him! 7-28-12

The Burnaby Village Museum & Carousel - Burnaby BC
This beautiful sculpture is constructed of various small plants which are inserted into the outside walls of the sculpture. Each one is nourished with water/nutrients through small hidden hoses. Quite impressive, don't you agree?? 7-28-12
Senior missionaries enjoying a fun day together
The centennial celebration is taking place in Burnaby BC. The five senior couples and sisters serving in the lower mainland visited the historic museum and carousel in Burnaby BC. The homes and shops are originals and/or replicas of those used one hundred years ago. The displays are similar to those in Nauvoo. We loved the beautiful sculpted horses representing the carousel located inside the grounds. 7-28-12

Mary Tilleman's Bridal Shower- July 2012
Mary is displaying gift from Sister Jones, a fleece blanket with crocheted edge. Sister Jones learned this great technique from amazing Sister-in-law, Joyce Tuttle, prior to mission. Sister Jones now makes fleece blankets (displaying the famous maple leaf-reminder of Canada and wonderful memories ) for special friends and missionaries.
Missionaries again on the island of Haida Gwaii
Haida Gwaii Island
Haida Gwaii (Islands of the People) or the Queen Charlotte Islands are in the northern most part of the mission. There are 3 small towns of approximately 5000 people. Our mission president recently sent missionaries to the island for the first time since the 70's.
The 12 year old boy, Gabriel, in this photo was baptized by Elder Coles. Elder King is next to him. It was the first baptism on Haida Gwaii in 35 years. More baptisms are scheduled there. These Elders along with 140 Elders and Sister missionaries in the Canada Vancouver Mission are bringing many souls unto Christ through baptism.

SURREY STAKE PIONEER PICNIC - July 21, 2012
Teresa Head & Sister Jones are enjoying themselves at the annual picnic held at Crescent Park in White Rock, which about 40 minutes from Richmond. Teresa is an amazing woman with such a fun sense of humor. She usually travels in her wheel chair, but left it at home today , using only her crutches. Though she has experienced many trials in life, she is one of the most optimistic people we know. She also has a great sense of humor. We love her.
Teresa and her 11 year old non-member friend, Shalynn, rode with us to the picnic. Shalynn spent most of the day taking turns inside the bouncing Castle.
Almost all of the missionaries within the Surrey Stake attended the picnic. It's a fun event where many members, non- members and those learning more about the church enjoy a great time together. We enjoyed good musical entertainment, lots of games for all ages and delicious food. Several Senior missionaries, including Elder and Sister Jones, helped serve hamburgers, watermelon, chips, vegetables and fruit to the hungry group. Elder Jones enjoyed "lawn skiing" with the Elders Finlinson, Robinson and Miller. These Elders are serving in the Korean Branch. Team work is required to win, and they did it.
It had rained in the area throughout the week, however, we were told by all members that it never rains on the day the picnic is held. All of our prayers were answered...we had the most beautiful day possible. The picnic was a huge success.

Our new sister missionaries
(L to R) Sister Tiu (Too) from San Jose, California and Sister Wang from Taiwan. Sister Wang was baptized just 16 months ago. President Tilleman asked her to bear her testimony in the training meeting. She has a strong testimony and is here, ready to serve. We continue to be impressed by all the missionaries. We're grateful to serve with them.

"Qualifed and Certified" ....... very important in the Canada Vancouver Mission
Missionaries travel to the building in Richmond every six weeks for transfers. Those in the lower mainland drive cars; those in outlying areas travel by bus, sky train or plane.
President Tilleman trained/taught them in the chapel to the left of Elder Jones. (Over 100 missionaries this transfer).
Following President's training, Elders Jones and Traxler provided documents and information to the new missionaries to insure they become "qualified and certified" drivers while they serve in Canada. They cannot drive unless these docs are completed and signed. Elder Jones will be the Vehicle Coordinator when Elder Traxler leaves in July.

Vancouver Temple with Departing Missionaries
Another wonderful experience with departing Elders and Sisters. This time Elder and Sister Lewis, (front row right center) are also leaving. We served with Elder Jensen(fourth from left-back ) Elder Hanny (third from left- center )and Sister Yao (third from center-front) in Vancouver 1st. We love all of these missionaries. and we're so blessed to be here in Canada.
Tomorrow we will welcome twelve new missionaries. It's exciting to a part of this organized mission plan taking place throughout the world.

Impromptu game of PIE...
What a great team!! Elder Lewis(returning to Orem, Ut. next week), President Tilleman, Elder Traxler (returning to Monument, Co. July 4th, 2012) Elder Jones (will be replacing Elder Traxler in the office) and Elder Harding (replacing Elder Lewis in the office beginning next week.)
President Tilleman invited these senior missionaries to join him on the basketball court for an impromptu game of PIE. It was fun to observe his "exhilaration" in being on the court, shooting hoops, moving about freely, with very little discomfort. It was also inspiring to watch these Senior Elders enjoying a good time with the mission president.
President Tilleman's recovery has indeed been "miraculous". We have witnessed a miracle, and have felt our Heavenly Father's love and concern for our mission president, as well as the missionaries serving in the Canada Vancouver Mission.

Our "missionary" home in Richmond
Our fun little apartment is located inside this building on the second floor. We enter along the path, then thru the door to the left (hidden behide the low shrub). We love the grass and beautiful plants and trees which surround us.
Spring arrived "late" this year, we're told, so we're now seeing more greenery and beautiful plants and trees everywhere we go.
The license plates in BC read "Beautiful British Columbia". We agree!!
